Sydney Venue and Travel Guide

Travel Guide

We’re delighted to welcome you to Sydney, one of Australia’s most vibrant and accessible cities. This guide is designed to help you plan your trip and make the most of your time during the conference.

Conference Venue

The conference will be hosted at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), located in the heart of Sydney’s CBD. The campus sits just a short walk from Central Station, the city’s main transport hub, making it easy to reach from the airport and other parts of Sydney. There is a wide variety of accommodation available near the venue, particularly in the CBD, Ultimo, and Haymarket areas.

Getting There

Sydney Airport is approximately 15-20 minutes by train from Central Station, with frequent services running throughout the day. From Central, the UTS campus is just a short walk.

Public transport in Sydney includes trains, buses, and light rail, all of which are well-connected and easy to use. Visitors can use contactless payment or an Opal card to travel seamlessly across the network.

Accommodation

The venue, UTS, is surrounded by a wide range of accommodation options, from budget-friendly hostels to premium hotels, all within comfortable walking distance. The area is also rich in cafés, restaurants, and cultural attractions, so you’ll have plenty to explore before and after conference sessions. Staying nearby allows you to walk to the conference and enjoy the surrounding neighbourhood.

Attractions and Things to Do

Sydney offers an abundance of attractions within easy reach of the conference venue. From UTS, you can walk to Darling Harbour, Chinatown, and Paddy’s Markets. A short trip will take you to iconic sights such as the Sydney Opera House (~30 min walk), Harbour Bridge, and Bondi Beach.

Whether you’re interested in food, culture, shopping, or outdoor experiences, Sydney has something for everyone.

Visa Information

Visitors to Australia may require a visa depending on their country of origin. We recommend checking the latest requirements well in advance of your travel dates.

Most short-term visitors can apply for an Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) or visitor visa online. Please ensure your passport is valid for the duration of your stay and allow sufficient processing time for your application.

If you require an invitation letter for visa purposes, please contact the conference organisers.
